Malone has over 20 years of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) experience working with local and regional agencies. Through practical experience and self motivation, Malone has developed competence in a broad range of subjects, including the spatial aspects of location, distribution and interaction; environmental planning, design and restoration. It is her belief that in order to comprehend how natural systems function, the physical and socio-economic processes must also be identified in the development of geospatial data.

As a GIS Specialist, Malone’s tasks involve creating maps, charts and graphics for comprehensive plans, annexation studies, community redevelopment plans, beautification plans and water quality reports and studies. Her responsibilities include generating customized, site-specific location and description maps, converting data into geospatial information, generating hydrographs and the preparation of statistical analysis reports using Arc/Info.

Malone has worked extensively as a Scientist/Geographer with the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD). Her primary responsibilities are GIS data development and geospatial analysis in support of hydro-meteorological and water quality data infrastructure; developing and maintaining geospatial databases for GIS mapping and other GIS or environmental monitoring and assessment projects; and providing daily GIS mapping and data service support to customers from other district departments.

As a GIS Specialist with Iler Planning, Malone has utilized her professional beliefs and expertise to create maps and graphics for such clients as the Town of Medley, the City of Homestead and Florida City.

Malone has a long list of project accomplishments as a cartographer, geospatial data analyst and mapping specialist. Her beliefs in understanding the process of natural systems have guided her through the completion of these projects. Most notable among these are the South Florida Everglades Environmental Report, which is maintained and updated annually by Malone, and the Loxahatchee Refuge Water Quality Monitoring Report, which has been used for the Everglades Settlement Agreement. Other projects that Malone has been involved with include the following:

  • Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Project (CERP) system-wide Monitoring and Assessment Plan
  • Florida City EAR-Based Amendments Maps and Graphics
  • SFWMD Water Quality Monitoring Atlas
  • Homestead Annexation Studies Maps and Graphics
  • SFWMD’s Hydrological Monitoring and Water Quality Data
  • Florida City Community Information Maps
  • Town of Medley EAR-Based Amendments Maps.

Malone has years of expertise working with a variety of computer aided design
(CAD) and GIS software, such as ESRI ArcMap/ArcView, Autodesk, and Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
